School Carnival Games to Make – Pop Bottle Bowling

If you’re planning the school carnival, then you might enjoy these homemade carnival games with recycled packaging supplies and other recycled material.

Pop Bottle Bowling

You can turn 2 liter pop bottles into bowling pins.  Here’s what you’ll need:

* 5-9 2 liter bottles (an odd amount will help you build that pyramid shape)

* 3 cups of sand per bottle

* volleyball

Fill each pop bottle with sand and start bowling.

You can turn your bowling pins into members of the rival team by adding tennis balls to the top for heads and “dressing” them in team colors.  With no rival team, you can use your imagination and turn each bowling pin into an animal, a halloween ghost, or just wrap them in white tape with a ribbon around their neck to look like “real” bowling pins, albeit, shaped like pop bottles.

When you set up your bowling lane, be sure to have a few spare bowling pins for fast resetting, plenty of space behind you so that no one gets hurt and a long enough aisle space to get a good roll going.  Let younger children stand at a closer line and have an extra person working the booth with you to reset the pins on x’s taped to the ground.
